At the same time, there is no talk of love for Natasha - he treats the girl with pity and does not think about building true happiness with her. However, this feeling is mutual. The atmosphere in the night changes with the advent of a summer wanderer who considers a lie to be salvation.
At first, Vaska Pepel reacted to the comfort of Luke, like the rest of the trays, with wary and undisguised cynicism. He does not want to listen to his "fairy tales", but then everything changes. Hearing from Luke a parable about the righteous land, the thief suddenly feels the strength to correct the mistakes of the past. From that moment on, Vaska Pepel dreams of a better fate, hears the wanderer’s stories about beautiful Siberia and thinks to move there with Natasha.
But after Luke's departure, everything does not happen as the Wanderer forgave. Vaska accidentally kills the owner of the night, thereby determining her future fate. Now he is one road - in a brightly described by a talkative old man Siberia, only as a convict and already without Natasha.
