Biography of Turovsky Cyril
Having become a bishop of Turov, he became famous as a writer and preacher. Canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in the face of the saint, the memory is performed: April 28 and June 4 according to the Julian calendar. Then, when the enlightener of Euphrosyne began to serve the people in Polotsk, in Turov, another of our outstanding fellow countryman - Cyril, was born.
The boy was born in a family of wealthy citizens. Parents took care to get a good education. At that time, the wife of the Turov prince was the Greek princess. From her homeland, she brought many scientists of the courtiers. They became teachers of a smart boy. Cyril very sincerely believed in God. From childhood, he dreamed of serving Jesus Christ and praise His name in his books.
For the sake of this, he had already gone to the monastery in his youth. So that nothing prevents him from reading church books and writing his own works, the young monk ordered him to walked himself in the monastery tower. Here, only books remained his interlocutor, stars in the sky and birds that arrived at a narrow window. It was the only way that Cyril connected to Cyril.
