Then I remembered her for five days with a pencil in my hand, ”says the artist. In general, Lev Tokmakov is a person who does not cease to be surprised. This children's character trait is so necessary in order to guess the image of the character.

The artist Tokmakov also speaks of the principles of his work in the children's manner. Rather, gestures than words. I don’t know how they fit there. Only I need to pull them out and examine and decide all the time: it is suitable - it doesn’t move, ”the master explains. Well -illustrated children's books today are a rarity. Increasingly, publishers want to please everyone and at once and badly get along with the style. The artist Tokmakov has no desire to like. Having illustrated about three hundred books and honors the status of the patriarch in the genre of children's illustration, he is still strict to himself.
